History was made in Belzoni on September 3rd, 2024 with the opening of the ninth location of the Boys and
Girls Club of the Mississippi Delta. You can sign your children up at any time and children do not have to come every day or for the full time period.
“We have found that children who come at least twice a week, they tend to graduate
on time, pass their reading test, they have a greater sense of belonging, greater sense of efficacy, they
are able to avoid bad choices and bullying. We just need them here where they can get it.” CEO of the Boys and Girls Club of the Mississippi Delta, David Dallas stated.
The cost to sign up is $40 a month and they will be fed and receive great programming and structure, but
Dallas stressed, “We do not turn children away who cannot pay. We try to find other resources to
support them.” The Boys and Girls Club of Belzoni is located at 16418 US HWY 49 and can be reached at
662-201-5625. At the time of this article being written, Belzoni’s Club has 39 children signed up. The
Club will be eligible for further funding once an enrollment of 50 is reached.
